Dr. Jain --Complete Health Dentistry

Patients often ask me what is my motivation for taking care of my patients. My goal is always my patients complete health--- I always ask about any chronic conditions they have or family history of chronic diseases to which they may be prone.
I was diagnosed as pre diabetic at age 28. I basically took it as phew! dogged a bullet. That was that. At age 42 I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Now I had to take Metformin. Most people see dentists more regularly that their physicians. That is why I discuss their chronic conditions, any family conditions they are prone to but don't have yet and how important it is to keep their mouth healthy because the condition of their mouth worsen some of these conditions. That is why I made it my mission to not just treat cavities but to make my patients healthy. That is why our mission is complete health dentistry.

Relation between Bruxism and TMJ Disorder

Bruxism/ teeth grinding puts stress on jaw muscles causing TMJ pain, earaches, headaches, clicking and popping of the TMJ.

What does teeth grinding do to your teeth?

If you are grinding your teeth it can expose dentin which is the layer of the tooth that insulates the nerve. Dentin has channels. Once exposed bacteria can travel to the nerve and damage the nerve leading to root canals. Tooth damage caused by teeth grinding puts you at risk of tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss.

Do you know what damage bruxism is doing to your teeth?

Bruxism or teeth grinding wears away the enamel and causes fractures in your teeth. In the absence of treatment these cracks will worsen, getting deeper leading to more serious fractures in your tooth.
